Picture from original recipe - you can see the few I took of the one we made on Monday's post |
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cold milk
- 16 oz. whipped cream (separate 2 cups)
- 1 bakery angel food cake, cubed
- 2 large containers fresh strawberries (greens off and cut in half length-wise)
- 8 oz. sour cream
- 1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 tsp. grated orange peel
Directions:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the milk, sour cream, pudding mix, and orange peel on low until thickened. Fold in 2 cups of the whipped cream.
- In a 3 qt. glass trifle dish, place half of the angel food cake cubes. Place 1/3 of the strawberries around the sides of the glass dish and over the cake. Add half of the pudding mixture over the cake and strawberries. Repeat with a layer of cake cubes, strawberries around the edges and over top the cake, and the remaining pudding mixture.
- Add the remainder of the whipped cream on top of the final pudding layer, and top with the remaining strawberries.
- Voila!
Also, a very happy first birthday to our sweet and precious niece, Avia! We love you so very much, and can't believe it's been a whole year since you came into our lives. We can't wait to watch you continue to grow and learn :) December 17th has never been so fun!
