Well hello, 2015!
We are now 2 days into 2015, and I am still having a hard time believing it's here. Doesn't "two thousand and fifteen" sound so futuristic? I thought by now we'd be driving around in hovercrafts and we would all have machines to get us ready every morning (though I've not given up hope).I've never been one to make New Year's Resolutions, mainly because I am horrible about keeping them (like that time I was going to start running 3 days a week. Yeah, that lasted less than a week. Go me!) They tend to make me kind of down on myself and my lack of motivation and discipline.
This year, I've decided that instead of resolutions to fix things that I don't like about myself (lose 10 lbs, exercise more, speak more positively, etc.), I would choose 5 things that I want to learn over the course of this next year. I figure 5 is a number that is small enough to keep from becoming overwhelming, but large enough that it allows me to feel accomplished.
Morgan's Five Goals for 2015:
- Learn to use my sewing machine. My mom passed down her old sewing machine, and I don't even know how to thread the needle. I have fabric sitting on a shelf, just waiting to be made into curtains "one day." Well, that day is approaching!
- Successfully make a souffle. I have been wanting to make a souffle ever since I watched Sabrina (starring one of the greatest actresses of all time, Audrey Hepburn - my friends and family will tell you I'm a tad obsessed with her). The egg whites make it tricky, but I have faith I can master it. "A woman happy happy in love, she burns the souffle. A woman unhappy in love, she forget to turn on the oven."
- Make a frittata. It's not that I think it's difficult (I hear they're pretty simple), but I've never made one. And they sound fancy.
- Learn to knit. I'd like to be able to make scarves, blankets and other gifts for myself and for others, and I imagine the repetitive motion could be somewhat relaxing. Anyone want a scarf?
- Serve Beef Bourguignon for dinner one night. As one of Julia Child's most popular recipes, it is not the fastest or easiest dish to make. But the feeling of accomplishment watching others enjoy eating it? Priceless.
And just because I can, I will also share five things I will NOT do in 2015.
Morgan's Five Non-Goals for 2015:
- I will not go skydiving. Because I don't want to.
- I will not do repairs on my car. Because I don't know how. But my husband might!
- I will not run a half marathon. Because running is horrible.
- I will not procrastinate on my Christmas cards. Because I had to cram them in this year.
- I will not take my husband for granted. Because he's amazing. And deserves to be appreciated.
Well, that's it, folks. My goals and non-goals for 2015. Do you have any goals or resolutions you'd like to share?
Last, but certainly not least, congratulations to Casey, the winner of the 2015 planner giveaway! Thanks for visiting my Facebook page :)

I want to knit!
ReplyDeleteDo it! We can have a crazy knitting party :)
DeleteDo you have a website or book on how to get started? I want to make blankets
DeleteNope, but we can find one!
DeleteI've thought about knitting, too! Several people at work do it! Those are awesome lists, but if you change your mind on the skydiving, I'll be going again this summer! :)
ReplyDeleteI have a suspicion that one won't change! But I will keep that in mind. :)
DeleteI love that you have a non-goal list, too! And I also love that your goals pretty much center on food. Food is amazing. Have you ever seen Julie & Julia? It's one of my favorites!
ReplyDeletehaha My husband got a kick out of that, too! What can I say - I love to cook (and eat)! :) And yes, I've seen Julie & Julia. Love it so much! I don't think I could ever make it through that whole cookbook.
